A Long Time Ago, In a Blog-o-sphere Far, Far Away...

JediJeff from 2X3 Heroes had a Tis The Season give-away.  He had lots of great cards to choose from.  A few of the cards that I would have liked to have were already spoken for.  But this card was not.....

2012 Topps Series 2 Historical Stitches :  WARREN SPAHN  -  Milwaukee Braves

NICE !!!!

Well ...   JediJeff became frozen in carbonite!!

After escaping, he had a lot of cards to get out.  After going through his Millennium Falcon rolodex, he did not have my address.  So he sent an email requesting it.  That is when I had remembered that I had put in for one of the cards given away.
He than X-Winged it to me, along with the following in a PWE ....

A couple Hall Of Famers from the Royals and Twins

George Brett and Harmon Killebrew !!!

I love what Panini is doing, but I can not bring myself to buying a lot of their product because of the licensing deal.  It just doesn't look right without the team logos.  Maybe one day....

He also sent some Royal cards..  Once again, Love the Bo Jackson and Alex Gordon cards, but no team logo.
The Billy Butler Gypsy Queen card, and the Purple Bowman Prospects Hunter Dozier were needed cards.

Also included were some Twins.
The 2015 Diamond Kings from Panini is awesome, (but again no logos) but I might have to break down and get the DKs.  Would go great with my DKs from the 80's and 90's Donruss.

Thanks again to JediJeff for the give-away and the great PWE!!!

A PWE will be on its way to you in the future  JediJeff.

May The Force Be With You!!!!
(can't wait for Star Wars VII The Force Awakens to come out in December)

WHAT A GREAT DAY ......

Christ has risen .....  HAPPY EASTER !!

Opening Day is here ...

First Game...

Cardinals vs Cubs ........................  my prediction  CUBS WIN CUBS WIN

Not a  big Cubs fan , but they should make an exciting run for the playoffs.

My team, The Royals, signed their Ace Pitcher Ventura for 5 more years.  YEAH!!!
I think they should make the playoffs again.  World Series ????  Hoping.
The Indians will be a new hurtle in the central.  Not really worried about the rest.

WALLETCARD MADDOG LOOKS AT MY NEW PROJECT ......

Unfortunately it has nothing to do with the hobby...
except taking away some spending $$$ and what little time I have.

On Saturday, about 1 hour before leaving for Morris MN (3hr drive from Twin Cities)
to see my daughter's college band perform, my wife comes up from downstairs and said,
"There's water dripping from the ceiling!!!"
WHAT !!!!!

Here is what we saw....
The ceiling also has a big sag in it from the weight of the water...

Had to determine the cause, thus canceling the trip to Morris.  Daughter not happy, but understood.

SO ...  I began to disassemble ....

No pipes leaking... no water coming down ... I'm betting it has to be coming from the shower that is above that area.  Told my wife to run the shower.  Within seconds, water started coming through.
STOP THE WATER!!!!!

Looked at the shower, and the caulk and grout look ok.........I guess NOT...

Removed a few rows of tile.....   Maddog says this isn't good ......
Maddog is on the shower floor, and yes that is where drywall used to be ... UGH!!!!!!

House was built in '88 and green paper drywall was used.  Will be replaced with cement board.
Don't believe we will retile.  Will be looking for something else. ??

Well.... the wife wanted that bathroom remodeled, but not starting on the coldest weekend of the winter.

Maddog also looked at the ceiling downstairs.....

and he said   HAVE FUN ......

So with this new project, regular work schedule, family time and time taken by The Eagan Drumline that my son is in, etc etc etc..
my blogging time (not that I blog all that often and would like to do more) , blog reading  and updating my webstore and website will be less for now.

Hope to still find a little time to hit the stores for 2015 Topps, and hoping to still go to the card show this weekend ??? ...  need to get the Rookie Trophy Cup cards for the collection.

If you do contact me about cards, I will try to respond as soon as I can.

Wish us luck..

Wallet Card and Best '52 Pick-Up ....

No... Not this kind

and not this

Mad Dog (wallet card) and I ventured out in the cold to the local monthly card show this past weekend
and here is what I got .....

SEVEN 1952 Topps (w/ Mad Dog in the middle).

Best Part -------   cost me about $2.50 each  WOW...
Normally I might find 1 or 2 for that price.

In this condition, they will usually run any where from $5 to $15 each.
Minimal creasing on a couple of cards / small amount paper loss on one card where tape was removed / one has glue stains on back from when it was attached to something
REALLY HAPPY with these conditions...

This puts my '52 collection at 32 cards out of 407  --- 7.9% complete !!!!
Mostly commons (No Mantle Yet ???? / have reprint)
Some notables I do have : Dom DiMaggio / Ed Lopat / Preacher Roe / Dutch Leonard /Bob Friend RC / Walt Dropo

(kept on Trading Card Database / not my photos / not for sale or trade, sorry)

Probably will never finish this set, especially when I try to get as cheap as possible.
But having fun trying.  Who knows, maybe one I will come across some of the big names for cheap.... zzzzzzz DREAMER zzzzzz.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR WALLET ?

I'm in ....

The game of Wallet Card      by Baseball Card Breakdown

The BIG question was which card do I choose ?????

Do I go with someone from my favorite team-  (Royals or Twins)
OR --  Player ( Brett , Ryan , Harper , Trout ,  (can't sacrifice Mantle) etc  )
OR --  player from an enemy team  (Yanks , White Sox , Tigers )
OR --  from junk wax era  -- OR Newer ...

OR --------  HOW ABOUT A NICE VINTAGE  ------

Yup ----  This is the one -  1975 Topps Bill  "Mad Dog" Madlock #104 !!!!!

WHY??   I love my vintage cards.  Also, it was part of The Heart and Soul of my collection - The Topps Rookie Trophy Cup Collection.  That is until it was replaced with one in a lot better condition.

Here is the Mad Dog's home (for now)

This old beat up wallet that has seen its better days.

Some day soon, he will be moving into his new digs......

My Gem Mint 10 Wife bought me a new wallet about a year ago.  But like everything else, old T-Shirts and underwear,  I just keep using them until the bitter end.

I will keep you updated on Mad Dogs whereabouts through out 2015.
Maybe by doing this game it will get me to do more posts.
